Nutritional Microscopy is a method of evaluating blood while it is biologically active. It was developed by Dr. John A. Allocca, a medical research scientist. Blood is obtained by the “finger-stick” method under sterile conditions and observed using Darkfield microscopy. There are many cells and substances that can be seen in biologically active blood, including lipids, indicators of toxicity, oxidation, etc. The Darkfield microscope is an important tool used to evaluate candida albicans overgrowth. The frequent use of antibiotics may deplete the intestinal tract of "friendly" bacteria, resulting in an overgrowth of candida albicans. Darkfield Microscopes
